New York Congresswoman tells voters Himes will bring needed leadership for families on economy

Today, Rep. Nydia Velázquez (D-NY) and Jim Himes, Democratic candidate for Congress, met with voters on the East Side of Bridgeport. Himes and Velázquez talked with voters in both English and Spanish about the need for real leadership on the economy.

"Jim Himes has the capacity, leadership, and vision to restore confidence in our economy," said Rep. Velázquez. "This district needs someone with his passion and commitment to making sure the economy works for all of our families. And Congress needs someone with Jim's leadership, knowledge, and energy on economic issues."

"Families across our district need real leadership on the economy, not more of the same failed policies," said Himes. "Our current economic crisis is no accident; it is the direct result of years of failed policies proposed by George Bush and still supported to this day by Chris Shays. It's time for a change."
