Perriello Campaign Reaches 1,000 Hours Tithed

Today, the Perriello campaign reached a milestone in its volunteer tithing program: 1,000 hours donated to charities around the fifth district. Campaign staffers and volunteers have given 10% of volunteer hours directly to non-profit groups to exemplify the ethic of service Tom Perriello will bring to Washington.

"The tithing program has been a spiritually rich and humbling experience for all of us on the campaign. We are so grateful to all the charities and houses of worship who have let us join them in serving the community. This is just the beginning of reviving a culture of service in Washington and in our communities in the fifth district," said Tom Perriello.

The campaign has volunteered with food distribution centers in Danville, adult day care centers in Martinsville, domestic violence shelters in Bedford, soup kitchens in Charlottesville, Habitat for Humanity, youth literacy programs in Franklin County, and assembling care packages for the troops in all campaign offices.
