Lankford: CONGRESS, DAVIS SAW ECONOMIC CRISIS COMING, DID NOTHING

Too Busy with Steroids and Major League Baseball

At a candidate forum last night in McMinnville, conservative Congressional candidate Monty Lankford stated that both Congress and Lincoln Davis did nothing to prevent the nation's current economic crisis even though "they saw the train wreck coming years ago."

"Congress, as a whole, dropped the ball," Lankford said to a packed room of voters and members of the press. "They were so busy with Roger Clemens, steroids and playing politics with troop funding that they completely ignored a massive issue until it was too late."

Lankford was given five minutes to talk about the issues, as Congressman Davis was a "no show" at the debate. In his remarks, Lankford sharply criticized Lincoln Davis and Barney Frank for sitting on the economic oversight committee, the Financial Services Committee, and doing nothing to head off the nation's economic downturn.

"Lincoln Davis actually sits on the committee that oversees this economic issue, and his lack of action is disgraceful," said Lankford. "The problem is that he has taken $480,000 from Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and New York Financial institutions, and he was paid to look the other way."

"Congress has been negligent on both sides of the isle," said Lankford. "Like every American, I'm fed up with Congress and the only way to change Congress is to change Congressmen."

Lankford, a life-long Tennessean and local businessman in Franklin, paid his way through Free Will Baptist Bible College with a welding job. Lankford will face Davis in the general election on November 4th.
