Schuring Tours Wadsworth Manufacturing Plant

State Sen. Kirk Schuring campaigned in Medina County Wednesday morning, visiting businesses including Luke Engineering & Manufacturing.

"Plants like Luke Engineering & Manufacturing represent the backbone of the 16th Congressional District," Schuring said as he toured the plant with President Fred Hayduk and Vice President Chris Jurey.

Luke Engineering is internationally recognized as a leader in hardcoating technology and the company has more than 50 years of experience in hardcoat anodizing. The company, which employs 65 and has a broad base of clients, hard coats products from ice cream scoops and air bag components to lawn trimmer heads.

"We're a very diverse business. We operate three shifts five days a week and our number one cost is electricity, so we're concerned about the energy situation," Hayduk told Schuring.

Schuring, who is seeking the 16th Congressional District seat, unveiled his energy plan Tuesday at Stark State College of Technology. He assured Hayduk that if elected he will work to implement the plan that includes drilling immediately and working to develop various advanced and alternative fuel sources.

He noted that Luke's success is directly attributable to high quality standards and an intense focus on customer service and rapid responses to customers' orders. The company has plants in Wadsworth and Rittman.

"Companies like Luke Engineering and others across Medina, Wayne, Stark and Ashland counties work on a just-in-time turnaround that depends on a solid transportation system. That's why keeping our state's infrastructure strong is so important to our economic success," Schuring said.

Schuring will campaign door to door in Medina County this week.
