U.S. Representative John R. "Randy" Kuhl, Jr. released the following statement after today's 13Wham debate in Rochester. The debate, which will be aired tonight at 9 pm and broadcasted on 13Wham's website, highlighted the vast differences between Congressman Randy Kuhl and Eric Massa.

"Today's debate reiterates the drastic differences between me and my opponent. Today, my opponent's inexperience and incompetence shone through when he openly admitted to not understanding what a tax bill is, not understanding what is going on in the economy, not understanding what tax plan the leader of his party supports, not understanding the difference between a loan guarantee provided by the government and an earmark, and again confusing Bolivia with being a member of CAFTA (which it is not). Bottom line, my opponent either doesn't know what he is talking about or is trying to fool the voters that he will not raise their taxes and lose their jobs.

"My opponent has persistently said that he supports a healthcare plan (H.R. 676) that will cost over one trillion dollars a year and will increase taxes by $1,200 on middle class Americans. My opponent supports a tax plan that nonpartisan experts say will kill 60,000 jobs in New York alone and hike your taxes by another $3,200. He subscribes to the philosophies of a Failed, Do-Nothing Democratically-led Congress, one that has done nothing to lower the cost of gasoline and health care, reform Social Security and Medicare, address illegal immigration, and balance our federal budget.

"At the end of the debate, I proposed a question to my opponent: with his support of a socialized health care plan that will raise taxes by $1,200 and support of a tax plan that hikes taxes $3,200 totaling $4,400, how is he going to promise to give tax breaks to everyone making under $250,000 a year? My opponent wasn't able to answer the question because he knows his plan will destroy our economy.

"Our country is facing an economic crisis, skyrocketing energy prices and health care cost, and a War on Terror, and we cannot afford a Congressman who does not have the experience or the knowledge to find the solutions that our country needs."
