Smith Shines at Debate
Senator Gordon Smith tonight proudly displayed his rationale for a third term in office at the KGW 8/Oregonian sponsored debate in Portland. Gordon's message of bipartisan progress over partisan rhetoric was undoubtedly the winning sentiment of the evening.
"I promised Oregon twelve years ago that I would go to Washington, DC and be an independent voice for Oregon. I have kept that promise, and no amount of attack ads can change my record of accomplishment for Oregon," Smith said tonight.
Highlights of Smith's winning message included:
A bipartisan partnership for progress: From working to protect our special places to getting vital funding for our rural counties, Gordon Smith and Ron Wyden make sure Oregon's voice is always heard.
A Senator for All of Oregon: Gordon is a voice and a vote for rural Oregon. From water for farmers in Klamath to funding for fisherman in Coos Bay, Gordon makes sure no part of our state is left behind.
Progress over Partisanship, a Record of Independence: Gordon votes his conscience rather than following the party line. He loudly voiced his concern with the direction of the war in Iraq, successfully blocked President Bush's Medicaid cuts, voted for stem cell research to advance medical science and led an effort protect the gay community from crimes of hate.
