Issue Position: Iraq

The War in Iraq is the most pressing and weighty issue facing this country and this Congress. We are in desperate need of change for the sake of our troops, our veterans and the American people. The President's "stay-the-course" strategy in Iraq has not worked and we have given it ample time to work. I voted in support of the U.S. Troop Readiness, Veterans' Health and Iraq Accountability Act because it calls for a change of course. This bill fully funds our troops - before, during and after they are deployed - and also applies much-needed pressure on the Iraqis to step up and take control of their country. We need to bring our troops - those who have performed magnificently in Iraq - home in a timely and honorable manner.
