Jeanne Shaheen Talks with New Hampshire Voters This Week About Proposals to Bring Relief from High Gas Prices, End Dependence on Foreign Oil

Press Release

Date: July 21, 2008
Location: Manchester, NH

Former Governor and current candidate for US Senate Jeanne Shaheen will meet with New Hampshire voters across the state this week, making stops to talk about short-term and long-term proposals to lower the cost of gas and invest in alternative energy development. Shaheen will be in Salem and Concord on Monday, Littleton and Plymouth on Wednesday, Claremont and Newport on Thursday and Rochester on Friday.

"We need a comprehensive energy policy that moves us off of our dependence on foreign oil," Shaheen said. "It's an economic and an environmental imperative that we invest in the development of alternative and renewable energy sources, increase domestic energy production and practice conservation in our daily lives. But we also need to look at ways that we can provide relief now for New Hampshire families paying over $4 a gallon at the pump. We need to take action immediately."

Throughout the week, Shaheen will talk with New Hampshire voters across the state about the importance of curbing the reckless Wall Street speculation that is driving up the cost of gas and the importance of developing a comprehensive, long-term energy plan that focuses on investment in alternative and renewable energy development, conservation and increasing domestic energy production.

Details about this week's events are forthcoming.
