IP Senate Candidate: Washington's 'Reckless Indifference' Costing Americans

Independence Party Senate candidate Dean Barkley released the following statement Tuesday regarding the stock market crisis:
"We are now seeing the results of decades of irresponsible behavior by our elected officials with the failure of Lehman Brothers and the precipitous free fall of the stock market.

"A lack of regulation—reckless indifference, really—along with the $10 trillion of debt that Congress has inflicted upon us is now costing every American dearly. Look at the declining value of the dollar, the rising price of oil and other goods, the mounting home foreclosure crisis in our communities and your plummeting retirement accounts. This matters on every Main Street in America.

"Maybe my two opponents will finally acknowledge that we have incurred a $10 trillion national debt and will tell us how they plan on dealing with this huge issue in a responsible manner."
