LaRocco Calls for "Vigorous Investigation" of Wall Street Meltdown

Now that Congress and the President have agreed on a rescue package to stem the toxic meltdown on Wall Street, Larry LaRocco says it's time to push forward with a criminal investigation into events surrounding the collapse of the nation's financial markets.

"The FBI must vigorously investigate whether any laws were broken in connection with this crisis," LaRocco said. "That investigation must be thorough and unbiased," he said, "and it must be followed wherever it leads."

"If the FBI turns up even the smell of criminal activity, the U.S. Justice Department must vigorously prosecute the firms and individuals involved," LaRocco said.

"The taxpayers deserve justice, and we must not allow any high-rollers who've broken the law to walk away from this mess," LaRocco said. "It's the old saying, ‘if you do the crime, you do the time.'"

LaRocco said this Congress and the next one must do whatever it takes to make sure the investigation is pursued and justice done.
