Hagan on Record Unemployment: North Carolina Families Deserve Better

State Senator and U.S. Senate Candidate Kay Hagan (D-Guilford) released the following statement after the U.S. Labor Department announced that jobless claims have now reached a seven year high.

"Today's news about America's record unemployment rate, during a time of economic turmoil and unrest, is just another consequence of letting special interests run the game. For too long, regulatory policies were pushed aside in favor of massive profits for the biggest corporations and banks who only got bigger and more out of touch. Now, unemployment is higher than ever, in part because of a Washington culture that let Wall Street make Main Street pay the price and pick up the pieces. North Carolina families deserve better."
