Dear Friends,

I'd like to give a big Thank You to those of you who were able to make it to the Link to Launch rally on Monday. It was a huge success! Thousands of you made your way to Cape Canaveral to show your support for our nation's space program. It was very important for U.S. Senators Nelson and Martinez know that the local community is behind NASA and space 100%.

Thank You!

~ Bill

Florida To Buy U.S. Sugar Land:

Governor Crist announced on Tuesday plans to purchase 187,000 acres from U.S Sugar for $1.7 billion. I wholeheartedly support this purchase. Buying this land is a huge step forward in the restoration of the Everglades and the fact that it is being done with existing funds and without raising taxes makes it a very smart investment in our environment and our future.

Benefits of the land purchase include:

• Huge increases in the availability of water storage; significantly reducing the potential of harmful discharges from Lake Okeechobee
• Ability to deliver cleaner water to the Everglades during dry times
• Preventing thousands of tons of phosphorus from entering the Everglades every year
• Forever eliminating the need to "back-pump" water into Lake Okeechobee from the Everglades
• Additional water storage alternatives, relieving pressure on the Herbert Hoover Dike
• Sustainability of agriculture and green energy production.

Calling All Veterans!

Our nation owes a great deal of debt and gratitude to the brave men and women who have served their country in our armed services. As a legislator in Tallahassee, Senator Posey has long been an advocate for veterans. He has had the opportunity to meet with veterans from across the state and discuss the issues affecting them.

Since 2007 alone, Senator Posey has voted "YES" on 12 bills supporting veterans and the military that have been signed into law. Included among those is Senate Bill 122 that Senator Posey himself filed. That bill prohibits the court from modifying child custody during the time a parent is activated, deployed, or temporarily assigned to military service, except for temporary changes, in which case the original custody must be reinstated upon the service member parent's return from duty.

Senator Posey is now searching for all veterans who will, in turn, support his Congressional Campaign. Recently, a group of veteran supporters of Bill's banded together to create Veterans for Posey. This group will help advise Senator Posey on issues affecting veterans and the military. They will also be a key component of the grassroots efforts of the campaign - volunteering for precinct walking, sign waving, yard signs, and so much more.

If you'd like to join with your fellow veterans in supporting Bill Posey for Congress, please contact Ashley Hughes at ahughes@billposey.com. Send her your name, rank, branch of service, service history, and any other information you'd like us to know. We are excited to announce that we will also be launching a Veterans for Posey website in the coming weeks so we would also love to have photos of you in uniform to post on the site.

Veterans for Posey will be having a kick-off meeting on Saturday, July 5th. State Senator Carey Baker, a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, will be calling in to offer his support. We hope as many of you as possible can be there.
