Issue Position: Restoring Fiscal Responsibility, Cutting the Pork

John wants to restore fiscal responsibility in Washington by reining in spending and balancing the federal budget by 2012 without raising taxes.

John believes we can reduce the size of government by making it more efficient and transparent while eliminating duplicative or wasteful programs. He wants to prohibit federal spending from growing faster than the economy - except in time of war or national emergency - and supports an immediate ban on taxpayer-funded "earmarks". John is a longtime opponent of the earmark process and believes that no Member of Congress should have the power to anonymously spend your tax dollars on unaccountable pet projects.
