Florida is an incredible place to live, but many people are facing rising property insurance, property taxes and the breakdown of the national housing market. Hard-working families are feeling a financial squeeze and want action that will be helpful and fair. Mario is a leading advocate for a federal catastrophe fund and has aggressively pushed to get people help. Less talk, more action.

• Introduced the Keep Our Homes Act to provide strapped homeowners more tax relief.
• Ensured Florida was included in all Federal support following Hurricanes Katrina, Wilma and Rita including agricultural assistance, housing support and emergency tax relief.

• Voted for Neighborhood Stabilization Act of 2008 to provide $15 billion to revitalize areas most affected by the housing crisis.
• Voted for HOPE VI Improvement and Reauthorization Act to extend HOPE VI through September 30, 2015 at $800 million per year which provides grants to Public Housing Authorities to demolish and replace dilapidated public housing units and replace them with mixed-income communities
• Voted for Mortgage Reform and Anti-Predatory Lending Act to address the problems in the subprime and securitization market that recently surfaced in the current dual housing and credit crisis.
