Honoring New Hampshire's Veterans, Service Members

Giving Veterans Receive the Care They Need and Deserve

John Lynch including funding in the state budget to pay for direct care services and medication for our veterans, allowing 50 more New Hampshire veterans to be served at the state's Veterans' Home.

Ensuring Veterans Are Treated With Dignity and Respect

John Lynch included more than $6 million in the state capital budget for improvements to the state Veterans' Home so that we can better care for our veterans. He also added nearly $1 million for capital improvements to the State Veterans' Cemetery to ensure our veterans' final resting place reflects their dignified service to our state and our country.

Helping Veterans Show Pride in Their Service

Gov. Lynch supported legislation waiving the additional fee that currently exists on top of the registration fee for a veterans' license plate. The Governor believes strongly that our veterans should not have to pay an extra fee to display the pride they have in their service.

Guaranteeing Pay for State Employees in the National Guard

John Lynch issued an executive order guaranteeing that state employees activated for duty in the National Guard will continue to receive their health benefits and the difference between their state and National Guard salaries.

Ensuring College for Children Whose Parents are Killed on Active Duty

John Lynch signed legislation ensuring that children whose parents are killed on active military duty will still be able to go to college. Under the law, New Hampshire children between the ages of 16 and 25 will be eligible for free tuition at New Hampshire's public colleges and universities if their parent was a New Hampshire resident killed during active duty in the military. Eligible children will also receive a scholarship of up to $2,500 to cover board, books and other expenses.
