House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced today a Department of Transportation grant of $980,000 for the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency for MUNI Bus Rehabilitation.
"This grant will assist MUNI in meeting the transportation needs of residents and visitors," Pelosi said. "Funding will be used for the rehabilitation of approximately 10 percent of MUNI's bus fleet, extending the life of these vehicles, and ensuring reliable service.
Pelosi said the grant is a significant victory for San Francisco. "MUNI provides service to almost 700,000 riders each weekday, and this grant will ensure that MUNI buses operate efficiently, and that passengers receive dependable service throughout the city," she said.
Pelosi has worked diligently to secure federal funding to assist the Municipal Transportation Agency in meeting San Francisco's transportation needs and will continue to work with city, state and federal officials and agencies to ensure that adequate resources are available.
