LoBiondo Announces USDA Funding for Local Energy Efficiency Improvement Projects

Businesses in Mays Landing, Egg Harbor Township Awarded Federal Grants to Install Solar Energy Roofing

A strong proponent of expanding the use of alternative energy, U.S. Representative Frank A. LoBiondo (NJ-02) today announced a combination of federal grants and loans from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA)'s Rural Development office are to be shared by two South Jersey businesses to assist with their efforts to install solar energy systems. The mixture of grants and loans are awarded as part of the Renewable Energy Systems and Energy Efficiency Improvement Program.

"Soaring energy prices continue to fiscally strain individuals, families and businesses while weighing heavily on our local and national economy. I have long believed that we must employ a combination of conservation, traditional fuel sources, and new alternative energy technologies to fully combat this growing crisis," said LoBiondo. "I am pleased USDA Rural Development is stepping in to partner with local small businesses to fund energy efficient projects that will provide immediate and long-term savings while being environmentally-friendly."

EHT Leasing LLC in Egg Harbor Township was awarded a $96,300 grant and a $96,300 loan for the purchase and installation of a 48,089 kilowatt hour roof mount solar energy system. Likewise, JB HVAC Inc. in Mays Landing has been awarded a $43,750 grant for the purchase and installation of a 20.4 kilowatt hour solar energy system.

As part of his "Spotlight on South Jersey Alternative Energies" Tour, LoBiondo toured the extensive solar energy project at the Atlantic County Utilities Authority (ACUA) last week. During his visit, LoBiondo was briefed by ACUA President Rick Dovey and various technical staff on the two-year old project at the Wastewater Treatment Facility.
