"Our country has always made promises to the men and women who serve in our armed forces. But, in the last few years, too many of those promises have turned out to be empty rhetoric, even as the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have created a whole new generation of vets. As the voice for more 117,000 veterans in Hawaii—63,000 in the First Congressional District alone—I'm going to do everything I can to keep America's promises."
