Issue Position: Standing Up for New Hampshire's Small Businesses

* Congressman Hodes Authored the GROW Act, Giving Tax Incentives to Small Businesses to Encourage them to Reinvest in their Business. His bill, H.R. 5107, that passed as part of the bipartisan economic stimulus package, would double the tax credit for small businesses to invest in capital equipment. It would allow companies who are hesitant about making capital investments in the slowing economy to make critical these investments to help grow their businesses and our economy.

* Congressman Hodes Cosponsored Legislation Helping Small Businesses get Renewable and Cheaper Energy. Congressman Hodes cosponsored H.R. 3220, to help small businesses become energy efficient. It would provide loans, education, and other resources for small firms to help them take advantage of more renewable and efficient energy technologies. This legislation would help lower energy costs for small businesses, while decreasing our reliance on foreign fuels and protecting our environment.

* Congressman Hodes Voted to Give Small Businesses the Tax Breaks They Need to Keep Our Economy Strong. He supported H.R. 2206, a bill that would expand tax breaks and credits to small businesses and eliminates red tape for small business owners filing their taxes.

* Congressman Hodes Cosponsored Legislation to Help Small Businesses Offer Health Care that is Affordable for Both Employers and Employees. H.R. 6210, the Small Business Health Options Program would provide tax credits to employers to pay for health coverage and expand the insurance options for small businesses. H.R. 2132, the Small Business Health Plans Act, would help small businesses afford and provide the same coverage that every federal employee gets.
