Boxer Statement on Proposed Changes to Endangered Species Act Regulation

U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, today made the following remarks regarding reports of proposed changes to the regulations regarding consultations under Section 7 of the Endangered Species Act:

Senator Boxer said, "This proposed regulation is another in a continuing stream of proposals to repeal our landmark environmental laws through the back door. I believe it is illegal, and if this proposed regulation had been in place, it would have undermined our ability to protect the bald eagle, the grizzly bear, and the grey whale."
