Issue Position: Energy and Economy

I will embrace and lead a comprehensive energy policy that includes the gas for your car and the electricity in your house. Our solution to energy cannot be solved by strangling producers with regulation or limiting domestic supply. I believe that our solution to energy means leaving nothing off the table. This involves looking at three primary changes to congressional policy:

1. Start environmentally conscientious domestic drilling in the costal plain of ANWR, drilling offshore and utilizing oil shale. This can be done safely and relatively quickly.
2. Safe and effective nuclear electricity plants and implementing new clean coal technologies to combat an expected doubling of electricity prices in the next few years.
3. Expand renewable energy choices for consumers even as we recognize that over 93% of our energy comes from oil, gas, coal and nuclear power.
