Senator Roberts Introduces Bill on Critical Feed Use of CRP

Following yesterday's court ruling on Critical Feed Use of the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP), Senator Roberts introduced legislation to ensure producers are not disadvantaged by the court's intervention in the program.

"While I am pleased those who were able to sign up originally are going to be able to proceed," Senator Roberts said, "others should not be unfairly disadvantaged by a court's decision to micro manage the program."

Roberts' bill will allow producers to hay and graze CRP acres under USDA's original Critical Feed Use criteria. Senators Sam Brownback (R-KS) and James Inhofe (R-OK) are cosponsors of the bill. Congressman Jerry Moran (R-KS) has introduced similar language in the House.

Senator Roberts is a senior member of the Senate Committee on Agriculture Nutrition and Forestry.
