STATEMENT FROM SENATOR NORM COLEMAN ON SENATE LIHEAP PROCEDURAL VOTE

"The most important issue facing Minnesotans today is energy prices - the escalating cost of filling up at the pump and heating their homes. Families need Congress to act quickly to address our energy crisis. We need an aggressive new energy policy focused on producing more from our deepwater oil and gas reserves, conserving more energy, dealing with speculation, and increasing LIHEAP funding to help Americans get through these tough times. Today, we missed an opportunity to pass increased funding for LIHEAP. This was compounded by the Majority Leader preventing consideration of energy proposals that would produce more and consume less - providing relief to every American family. I will keep fighting for LIHEAP and broad range solutions to our energy crisis."
