Tax Relief: Reducing the Tax Burden

Tax relief is essential to grow and expand our economy. The tax cuts supported by Congressman Camp have meant real relief for working families and small businesses, and he firmly believes there is more work to be done. With Dave's support, Congress annulled the marriage penalty, killed the death tax and increased the child tax so working parents can better provide for their families. Congressman Camp also voted to lower the tax rates for Americans of all incomes.

In addition, we also need to make the tax code simpler, fairer and flatter. The tax code is confusing, burdensome, overly complex and just plain unfair to millions of Americans and small businesses. Dave is working to close tax loopholes and create a simplified version that gives entrepreneurs the flexibility to expand their businesses and ensures every American is treated fairly.

Specifically, Congressman Camp supports making permanent the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts for families and small businesses, so that they may plan for the future without the fear of higher taxes.

Economy: Promoting Growth, Creating Jobs

Congressman Camp supported the Jobs and Growth plan. Because Dave supported this plan, families have more money in their paychecks, more Americans are working and the deficit is shrinking faster than expected. It was a plan that provided economic stimulus, especially for small business and manufacturers, boosted investor confidence, increased Americans' income and helped businesses move out of the red.

We live in a world where we must compete in a global economy. High taxes and excessive regulation have been the major reasons that Michigan has lost jobs, while most other states, even most states in the Midwest, have gained jobs. Congressman Camp believes we must help businesses create jobs for Michigan families and make the U.S. more attractive to new investment.

To accomplish this, Congressman Camp believes we must restrain spending by the federal government; promote economic growth by making tax cuts permanent for families; pass a corporate income tax rate reduction; reform and overhaul a confusing and unfair federal tax code; strengthen schools to make sure we have the best trained, best educated workforce in the world and prepare Michigan workers high-tech jobs; and get tough on immigration enforcement to protect jobs.
