Rehberg Responds to Bush Administration Decision to Remove Executive Ban on Off-Shore Energy Exploration

Montana's Congressman, Denny Rehberg, today issued the following statement in response to the President's decision to lift an 18-year old executive ban on responsible energy exploration along America's Outer Continental Shelf:

"Exploration of our nation's Outer Continental Shelf will provide Montanans some much-need relief at the pump. And the president's removal of the executive ban is huge part of making that exploration possible. However, it only solves half of the problem. The House and Senate now need to move forward with legislation to lift the congressional ban so we can start developing the domestic energy opportunities right off our own shore."

Last week, Rehberg signed onto a letter to President Bush asking him to lift the ban.
