Issue Position: Health Care

With 47 million uninsured Americans, the health care crisis is one of the most pressing challenges facing the United States. The situation is dire in Florida, where one in four residents go without insurance coverage, including one in three Hispanics. Those who are fortunate enough to have health care are finding that costs are skyrocketing beyond their reach, and our families are having to choose between paying the rent and paying their medical bills.

Moreover, nearly one in five children in Florida - more than 500,000 children - lack health insurance; in the richest country in the world, this is simply unacceptable. Being able to care for your family should not be a privilege. As your Congresswoman, I will work tirelessly to expand S-CHIP (State Children's Health Insurance Program) so that the children of working-class families have access to the health care that all of our children deserve.
