Issue Position: The Alaska Gas-Line: For Alaska's Future

I strongly support the construction of the Alaska gas line. I have encouraged the Governor and the legislature to issue their approval of a project promptly so the federal government can begin its review. In 2004, the Congress, at the request of myself, Lisa Murkowski and Don Young enacted a federal law that allows for limited federal loan guaranties and would expedite federal approval of any project. Recently the Congress has given more flexibility to the federal pipeline coordinator to allow the federal approvals to move more rapidly. And I have worked to provide assistance for training programs so that when the project is approved, Alaskans can build the line.
