Corker Votes Against Poor Energy Policy
Says Bill Would Do Nothing to Lower Energy Prices or Improve Energy Security

U.S. Senator Bob Corker (R-TN), a member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, today voted against debate on an energy bill, S.3044, saying it would do "nothing to lower energy prices or improve our energy security."

"We need a real debate on real energy solutions, not a political exercise that does nothing to lower energy prices or improve our energy security," said Corker. "To adequately address the energy challenges facing our country we need a commonsense, balanced approach that includes all available technologies: the continued development of alternative fuels; investment in research and technology; the expansion of our refinery capacity; conservation of our resources; efficiency; and enhancing oil and gas production in an environmentally friendly way. This bill would not have helped us become more energy secure, and therefore I did not vote to debate it."
