GRASSLEY STATEMENT ON THE DEATH OF FORMER SENATOR JESSE HELMS

Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa issued the statement below regarding the death today of former Senator Jesse Helms of North Carolina.

"Jesse Helms devoted his life's work to fighting for freedom through the political process, and treasured the liberties celebrated every year on this day, the 4th of July. I served in the U.S. Senate with him for 22 years and valued his friendship and appreciated his devotion to our nation."
