Smith Commends Gov. Heineman on Signing State Fair Bill

Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) today thanked Governor Dave Heineman for signing LB 1116, a bill to move the State Fair to Grand Island.

"I'm glad to see our Governor sign this bill in Grand Island today. This will not only provide an economic boost to Nebraska's Third District, but also will introduce thousands of people every year to all the scenic wonders central Nebraska has to offer," Smith said.

Under LB 1116, the current fairgrounds in Lincoln will become a University of Nebraska research park in 2010. The University plans to develop the 251-acre fairgrounds with research facilities, officials have said.
