Cubin Says Rainbows Don't Belong in Forest
Congresswoman Barbara Cubin (R-WY) today sent a letter to the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Ed Shafer, expressing her disproval of how the Department of Agriculture has mismanaged the Rainbow Family gathering within the Bridger Teton National Forest. Recent management decisions made by the USDA beg the question: What makes the Rainbow Family entitled to special treatment compared to law-abiding public land users? The Congresswoman's letter calls for Secretary Shafer to take formal action to offset the lost revenue and resources that Wyoming's communities have experienced because of the Rainbow Family gathering. In her letter, Congresswoman Cubin also cites concerns about the Department of Agriculture's inconsistent enforcement of regulations and questions the precedent set by the mismanagement of the Rainbow family gathering.
