Kingston Named to Conservative Honor Roll

Press Release

Location: Washington, DC

The American Conservative Union (ACU) the nation's oldest and largest grassroots conservative lobbying organization, has named Congressman Jack Kingston (R/GA-1) to its "Honor Roll" of members in the 110th Congress for receiving an above-average score on its 2007 ratings. ACU has rated every member of the House and Senate since 1971 and the ratings are widely regarded as the definitive conservative assessment of the federal legislative branch.

"The ratings Representative Kingston received reflects consistent support for conservative principles across a broad range of issues," said Larry Hart, ACU's Director of Government Relations. "By comparison, the average score for members of the House for 2007 was 43%. Representative Kingston is someone who grassroots conservatives in Georgia and across the country will continue to look to for leadership."

As the umbrella grassroots organization of the conservative movement, ACU tracks a wide range of issues before the Congress in three general categories: economic and budget matters, social and cultural issues and issues related to national defense and foreign policy. The objective is to provide a balanced, comprehensive picture of each member of congress's ideological predisposition based upon recorded votes.

"Conservative values of less government, lower taxes and more personal freedom have served as my guiding principles," Congressman Kingston said. "I appreciate the recognition from ACU and will continue my work to advance our common goals."
