Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton on Senate Passage of the Post-9/11 Veterans' Educational Assistance Act

Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton today issued the following statement on the Senate's passage of the Post-9/11 Veterans' Educational Assistance Act. The bill, of which Senator Clinton is a cosponsor, increases educational benefits to members of the military who have served on active duty since September 11, 2001.

"In the spirit of the original G.I. Bill, we have taken great strides today to ensure that the men and women who have served America in uniform since 9/11 will have a real chance to live the American dream that they have sacrificed so much to defend. As our servicemembers return from deployment, we owe them the opportunity to pursue an education or acquire new skills, so that the end of their military service can mean a new beginning in civilian life. I urge the President to sign this bill into law and open doors of opportunity for so many Americans who have given so much."

Senator Clinton has worked tirelessly to provide support and resources for servicemembers returning from deployment. Last year Senator Clinton introduced the 21st Century GI Bill of Rights Act, which would expand educational, housing and entrepreneurial opportunities for servicemembers, veterans and their families.
