One of our nation's most fundamental values is the right to cast a meaningful vote in a free and fair election. Our entire political system is based on the precept that the power of the government is derived from its citizens. We must never forget the eras of disenfranchisement that scar our past, and we are obligated to remain vigilant to ensure that these injustices are never repeated.
