Corker Statement on Earth Day

U.S. Senator Bob Corker (R-TN), a member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, made the following statement recognizing Earth Day.

"Earth Day reminds all of us to be good stewards of our environment," said Corker. "As mayor of Chattanooga, we created the Outdoor Chattanooga initiative to promote and cause citizens to appreciate our region's many outdoor resources and work to preserve and conserve them for future generations to enjoy. This year, Congress is scheduled to debate the most important piece of environmental legislation in decades. I have spent a lot of time reviewing various proposals and the positive and negative impacts of cap-and-trade programs in other parts of the world. I hope the policy our country pursues will be sound, enabling us to become more energy secure and grow our economy while - importantly - being good stewards of our environment."
