Gov. Heineman Comments on State Fair Proposal

Gov. Dave Heineman released the following statement regarding the Legislature's Agriculture Committee proposal to move the State Fair. The Governor supports LB 1116, which would move the state fair to Grand Island and provide $5 million in state funding for the move.

Gov. Heineman said, "I want to commend the hard work of Senator Erdman for his leadership in crafting this solution and I thank the members of the Agriculture Committee for their support.

"This presents an opportunity of a lifetime to do two very important things for our state. By moving the state fair to Grand Island, we now have an opportunity to rejuvenate and modernize the state fair, while freeing up space for the University of Nebraska to embark on the building of a research and innovation park that can help create high paying jobs for Nebraskans.
