Issue Position: Traditional Marriage

Marriage, defined as the union of one man and one woman, is the foundation of the family and human society.

As Oklahoma's 2nd District Congressman, I co-sponsored the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) which was signed into law by President Clinton in 1996. This law defined marriage as a union between one man and one woman and protected states from being forced to recognize a same-sex union performed in a different state.

Unfortunately, activist judges are working to undermine DOMA. In order to protect the traditional definition of marriage from being rewritten by judges I support a constitutional amendment to define marriage as a union between one man and one woman.
