South Dakota is home to some of the country's most outstanding natural attractions, such as the Black Hills National Forest, the majestic and historic Missouri River, the Buffalo Gap, and Fort Pierre National Grasslands, and several National Wildlife Refuges. As a member of the Energy and Natural Resources Committee, I will continue working to protect our nation's precious natural resources.

Ensuring the continued responsible management and multiple use of our resources is one of Congress's most challenging, yet critical duties. I have always been a strong advocate for multiple uses of our natural resources and public lands. Balancing the need for recreational, wildlife, aesthetic, mining, grazing, timber, and other interests requires compromise, and I have advocated balance in all decisions which impact the use of our public and private lands.
