New Mexico Rancher and Restaurateur Ed Tinsley Announces Candidacy for New Mexico's 2nd Congression

Southern New Mexico rancher and restaurateur Ed Tinsley officially announced his candidacy for New Mexico's 2nd Congressional district today.

Tinsley, a cattle rancher and owner of the Flying W Diamond Ranch north of Capitan, is also the owner of the New Mexico-based K-BOB'S Steakhouse brand. K-BOB'S has nineteen locations in New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma and Colorado and has been part of New Mexico's heritage since 1966.

"I have waited for the right time and circumstances to make a run for this Congressional seat. Over the past several weeks, Meredith and I have talked about this race and what it means to our district, our state, our country and our family. We have visited with many friends and supporters as well. Family support was the foundation for my decision, coupled with the help and encouragement of friends and supporters, I am committed to run and win." Tinsley said.

"From ranching, to the oil and gas industry, to tourism and the hospitality and restaurant industry - and the families who are the heartbeat of each of these businesses - I am part of each. I know and understand our challenges and our values in the second district. Thru my experience as an officer of the National Restaurant Association, and most recently as Chairman of the Board, I know how to get things done in Washington, D.C. for my constituents," Tinsley said.

"I'm someone who will go to Washington to represent our southern New Mexico values. I'm committed to upholding the Second Amendment, supporting a tough but fair immigration policy, working hard to resolve the health care issues we face, addressing the safety needs of Americans and keeping a tight reign on government spending," Tinsley said.

Tinsley's business background as a rancher and business owner makes him uniquely qualified to represent District 2 in Washington.

Since November 7, 2007 when Tinsley announced he was seriously considering this race, his campaign has received $221,200 in contributions from friends and supporters.

The campaign has launched a Web site at http://www.EdTinsleyForCongress.com .

Ed and his wife, Meredith, live on and operate the Flying W Diamond Ranch, which has been in the Tinsley family for 50 years. In addition to the cattle business and wildlife game management on their ranch, the couple is involved in oil and gas operations in southeastern New Mexico, commercial real estate in Texas and New Mexico, and a residential and equestrian development on their ranch. All of these businesses are headquartered at offices located on the Flying W Diamond Ranch.

Meredith and Ed have two grown children, Edward, 27, and Ede, 25.
