National Security Must Come Before Litigation

Press Release

Date: Feb. 13, 2008
Location: Washington, DC

Rep. Tom Price (GA-06-R) issued the following statement urging Democrat leadership to pass a permanent Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act bill to ensure our intelligence agencies have the ability to track terrorists and keep us safe.

"The threat of extremism is not going away," said Rep. Price. "We require a long-term solution that ensures our intelligence officials have the resources to keep us safe now and in the future. This bill is a common sense clarification to permanently close a terrorist loophole. I urge Democrat leadership in the House to move quickly to provide the necessary tools to fulfill our primary responsibility and protect our nation.

"After months of delays and distortions, the new majority is out of excuses. The only thing standing between a permanent fix to FISA is the Democrat leadership's loyalty to trial lawyers. The bipartisan Senate solution could easily pass the House, yet the House Democrats choose trial lawyers over national security."
