PASCRELL APPLAUDS PASSAGE OF ECONOMIC STIMULUS PLAN

U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-08), New Jersey's only member of the tax-writing House Ways and Means Committee, made the following statement in response to passage of the Senate approved economic stimulus package in the House of Representatives this evening:

"I am pleased that my colleagues in the Senate were able to broaden the target of our stimulus package to include more low-income seniors and veterans. Although more work needs to be done to include the unemployed and state governments in stimulating the economy, Congress is off to a strong start in reversing the recent economic downturn. Each week that goes by without the President's signature on a stimulus package further threatens our future economic outlook. I urge the President to sign this reasonable, bipartisan and bicameral agreement as soon it arrives on his desk."
