Hare Supports Transportation Bill, Urges President to Sign It
Congressman Phil Hare (D-IL) today voted in favor of the FY 2008 Transportation, Treasury, Housing and Urban Development Appropriations conference report which included funding for several important projects in the 17th Congressional District. Unfortunately, President Bush has threatened to veto the measure.
"I was proud to help secure funding for several important local projects," Hare said. "Strengthening the 17th District's transportation infrastructure will help create jobs and grow our economy. In addition, the tragic collapse of the I-35 Bridge in Minnesota shows just how important it is to make sure our roads are structurally sound."
"I have seen first hand the wonderful services provided to the young people who use the MLK Jr. Center in Rock Island," Hare added. "The King Center Project is more than the expansion of a buildingit is investment in their future."
"I urge the President to put down his veto pen and sign this important legislation," Hare concluded.
The following are a list of projects included in the conference report at Hare's request.
