Rep. Musgrave joins state delegation in lending full support of Colorado's military with additional funds for new facilities and strategic capabilities

Washington, Oct 26 - Following her commitment to work with people from across the political spectrum, Representative Marilyn Musgrave, along with Colorado's entire delegation, urged the Secretary of the Air Force to consider Colorado Springs as the site for a new cyber command center. Additionally, Representative Musgrave joined Democrats from the state delegation to petition leadership of both the House and the Senate Subcommittee on Military Construction and Veterans Affairs to include funding for a new Squadron Operations facility at Buckley Air Force Base.

• Musgrave works in bi-partisan fashion to make Colorado home to Cyber Command
This week, Representative Musgrave and Colorado delegation joined in a bi-partisan effort to urge the Secretary of the Air Force to consider Colorado Springs as a potential site for a new Cyber Command center. As stated in the bi-partisan letter, "The Mission of Cyber Command (AFCYBER) is to protect the nation and military cyber networks and communications. This mission, we believe, is closely tied to the mission of Air Force Space Command (AFSPC) and the United States Northern Command (NORTHCOM), both of which are headquartered at Peterson AFB in Colorado Springs."

"Colorado is home to many important and strategic military installations and much of the necessary infrastructure is already in place and capable of facilitating a Cyber Command," stated Musgrave. "This would be a great addition for Colorado's military community." said Musgrave.

• Helping update and modernize Colorado's military facilities
Also, this week, Musgrave joined Colorado Democrats in sending a bi-partisan letter to petition the leadership of both the House and Senate Subcommittees on Military Construction and Veterans Affairs to support funding for a new Squadron Operations facility for next year. Current conditions of the existing Squadron Operations facility are inefficient and unable to effectively meet the military's needs.

"This funding is critical to ensuring that Colorado continues to be a leader in military operations around the world," stated Musgrave. "I am pleased that a majority of the delegation worked together and I look forward to leadership in the House and Senate doing the right thing on this issue and funding this project," said Musgrave.
