Capito Statement on New SCHIP Compromise

Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) today reiterated her support for the State Children's Health Insurance Program and issued the following statement after voting in favor of the most recent compromise to reauthorize the program:

"This is yet another bipartisan compromise to reauthorize an incredibly important and successful program. Even more so than the original bill, this agreement incorporates strict language to ensure that SCHIP helps those who are most in need.

"This bipartisan compromise makes it clear that illegal immigrants, adults and high income families are not eligible for SCHIP coverage that was intended for low-income West Virginians. This agreement has made a strong bill even stronger."
