Sullivan Applauds Tulsa County Sheriff's Officers Graduation from Federal Immigration Training Program

Today, Congressman John Sullivan released the following statement regarding the graduation of 28 Tulsa County Sheriff's Officers from the five week 287(g) federal immigration training program in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

"After over a year of coordination with the Department of Homeland Security, I am pleased that 28 officers from the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office have completed the federal 287(g) immigration training program and are now deputized to enforce federal immigration laws. This rigorous five week program provided them with the authority, training, and tools they need to crack down on the growing criminal illegal alien population in Tulsa and throughout Eastern Oklahoma. 287(g) is a great example of how state and local law enforcement officials can play an increased role in enforcing our nation's federal immigration laws. I applaud Tulsa County Sheriff Stanley Glanz for his leadership in taking the initiative to apply for the 287(g) program and I thank Assistant Secretary for Immigration and Customs Enforcement Julie Myers for her help in bringing this program to Tulsa. With the training these Tulsa County Sheriff's deputies received, criminal illegal aliens will be put on notice that their days of harming our communities and evading the law is coming to an end."
