PALLONE VOICES DISAPPOINTMENT OVER DISTRICT COURT DECISION IN FORT HANCOCK CASE

U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) issued the following statement after hearing that the U.S. District Court of New Jersey ruled against Save Sandy Hook Corporation in its lawsuit regarding the lease agreement for the redevelopment of Fort Hancock at Sandy Hook.

"The district court's ruling was disappointing, but it is by no means the final act in preventing Sandy Hook Partners from moving ahead with its plans. The Interior Department's Inspector General is currently investigating the lease agreement between the National Park Service and Sandy Hook Partners. I am hopeful that investigation will shed some light on why the agreement was signed when Sandy Hook Partners had not proven the requisite financing to complete the plan.

"I remain skeptical that it is even possible at this point for Sandy Hook Partners to move forward with their plans, and hope that the National Park Service will soon realize this so we can look at other options. It's important that those who oppose this plan, as I do, continue to work together to prevent the over-commercialization of Fort Hancock."
