Hastert Statement Regarding the Passing of Congressional Colleagues Gillmor and Dunn

WASHINGTON D.C. - Congressman J. Dennis Hastert made the following statement Wednesday regarding the passing of two longtime colleagues, Congressman Paul Gillmor (R-OH) and former Congresswoman Jennifer Dunn (R-WA):

"From their efforts in Congress to their record of accomplishment in their home states, my friends and colleagues Congressman Paul Gillmor and Congresswoman Jennifer Dunn each dedicated their lives to public service and made a difference that will be felt for generations to come.

"It was an honor to work closely with Congressman Gillmor from the time he was first elected to the House nearly two decades ago. A genuine leader who consistently looked to strengthen the nation and serve his constituents, Paul was able to partner with members of both parties to get things done. Also an Air Force Veteran and longtime member of the Ohio General Assembly, he embodied the word ‘service,' and will be greatly missed.

"Congresswoman Jennifer Dunn worked tirelessly for more than a decade in Congress as an advocate for American families and small business owners. She was a leading voice in delivering historic tax relief to all Americans, and never forgot about the constituents and communities she served. Her dedication resulted in the deepest respect of her colleagues, and the highest level of representation for her constituents. It was a privilege to serve in House Leadership with Jennifer, and to call her a friend.
