Brown Statement On Tonight's Presidential Address On Iraq
United States Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) issued the following statement regarding President Bush's prime time address to the nation on Iraq.
"The president is asking us for continued patience while he force-fits a military solution onto a political problem. His Iraq policy is wrong and we must not let him smooth talk this nation into sacrificing more men and women to the wrong course instead of putting ourselves on the right one. To date, his failed Iraq policy cost 3,744 American lives and has our troops refereeing a civil war. It's clearly not making us safer.
"Global terrorism is on the rise because of the war. We must change course. We must internationalize our efforts in the region, redeploy our troops, and return our focus to the war on terror. Our military has done their job courageously and effectively. It's the president's turn to do his."
