Issue Position: Energy Policy
Congressman Walden currently serves a co-chair of the Northwest Energy Caucus and as vice chair of the House Renewable Energy Caucus, both bipartisan groups focused on enhancing our nation's energy policy. In addition, Greg is a member of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, including its Subcommittee on Energy and Air Quality, and the House Committee on Resources, including its Subcommittee on Water and Power.
In an effort to see America become more energy independent, Greg has been a strong advocate for the development of alternative, renewable energy sources such as wind, geothermal, solar, fuel cell, biomass and hydropower. Oregon's Second District is proving itself as a leader in this endeavor with pioneering companies already developing these types of power throughout central, southern and eastern Oregon.
In addition to his continued support for these energy sources, Congressman Walden will also work to preserve the benefits northwest ratepayers have received as a result of their proximity to cost effective, clean and renewable hydropower produced on the Columbia River system.
