Moore Statement on House Passage of No Permanent Bases in Iraq Legislation

Congresswoman Gwen Moore released the following statement after House passage of the No Permanent Bases in Iraq bill. By a vote of 399 - 24, the House voted to ban permanent U.S. bases in Iraq, permanently stationed American forces in Iraq and U.S. control of oil resources in Iraq:

"We in the Congress are working to go on record in opposition to a failed policy in Iraq. Today we reaffirmed our support for a new direction in Iraq and passed a bill to ban permanent U.S. bases in Iraq," Congresswoman Gwen Moore said. "It is the will of the American people to safely and responsibly withdraw troops as part of a comprehensive strategy in Iraq. No matter how stubborn this White House is, we will continue to turn up the heat and hold this Administration accountable because it is far past the time for a change of course in Iraq."
